Retirement Sum Topping-Up Scheme (RSTU): Who Qualifies and What You Get

Learn how you can receive tax relief by making cash top-ups to your own or your family members' retirement accounts.

The Retirement Sum Topping-Up Scheme (RSTU) allows you to make cash top-ups to your own or your family members' retirement accounts to help increase their savings.

Who it's for

This scheme is available to anyone who holds a CPF account.

What you get

By topping up these accounts with cash, you can receive tax relief. This helps reduce the amount of tax you owe based on the contributions made to yourself or eligible family members.

What it costs you

You must provide the cash for the top-ups yourself. Once you have made a top-up, the transaction is non-reversible.

The catch to know

There are limits on how much tax relief you can claim. The relief is capped at S$8,000 per year for yourself and S$8,000 per year for family members.

How to apply

  1. Determine the amount you wish to top up for yourself or your family.
  2. Log in to the official CPF portal.
  3. Follow the instructions to make a cash top-up to the relevant account.
  4. Keep your records for your annual tax filing.
