HMRC Online Services for Agents: Who Qualifies and What You Get
Qualified tax agents and accountants can use this service to manage client tax records and filings digitally.
This digital service allows professional tax representatives to manage their clients' tax affairs through a centralized online portal.
Who it's for
This scheme is designed specifically for qualified accountants and professional tax agents.
What you get
Once registered, you gain access to an Agent Services Account. This provides a digital way to view your clients' tax records, use filing portals to submit information, and manage official correspondence.
What it costs you
Using this service is free. To get started, you will need to have a Government Gateway ID and you must obtain formal authorisation from your clients.
The catch to know
When you request permission to act for a client, they will receive an authorisation code. You must use this code within 30 days, or it will expire.
How to apply
- Create or sign in to your Government Gateway ID.
- Register for an Agent Services Account.
- Request authorisation from your clients to access their records.
- Enter the client's authorisation code once they provide it.
