Gas Voucher: Who Qualifies and What You Get

Learn if you qualify for the Gas Voucher to help cover the cost of cooking gas cylinders in Brazil.

The Gas Voucher is a support program designed to help families cover the cost of cooking gas.

Who it's for

To be eligible for this support, families must be registered in the CadÚnico system. Beyond being registered, your household must meet specific income requirements. Specifically, the total income of your family, when divided by the number of people living in your home, must be up to half of a minimum wage per person.

What you get

The benefit is provided as a bimonthly payment, meaning you receive it once every two months. The amount provided is not a fixed flat rate, but is instead calculated to be equivalent to the average market price of a 13kg cooking gas cylinder. This is intended to help ensure families can continue to cook meals at home.

What it costs you

There is no cost to access this benefit. The program is free for all eligible citizens. Furthermore, if you are already registered in the CadÚnico system, you do not need to submit a separate application to receive the benefit; the process is handled through the existing registration system.

The catch to know

While the program is available to those meeting the income criteria, the distribution is not strictly first-come, first-served. The government applies specific priority rules when selecting recipients. Priority is given to families that include women who are victims of domestic violence.

How to apply

  1. Confirm that your family is currently registered in the CadÚnico system.
  2. Visit your local social assistance office to ensure your household information and income details are up to date.
  3. Monitor the official government portal to check for updates regarding payment cycles and eligibility status.
