Loss of Earnings Compensation (EO/APG): Who Qualifies and What You Get

Learn how to receive compensation for lost income during military service, civil service, or parental leave in Switzerland.

This scheme provides financial support to help cover your income when you are unable to work due to specific mandatory absences.

Who it's for

This is for employees who cannot work because they are performing military service, performing civil service, or are taking maternity or paternity leave.

What you get

You receive compensation equal to 80% of your average income during the period of service or leave.

What it costs you

The compensation is managed through your payroll. Your employer handles the filing process and the necessary payroll deductions.

The catch to know

The compensation does not cover 100% of your salary. You should check with your employer to see if they have a policy to pay the difference between the compensation amount and your full regular salary.

How to apply

  1. Inform your employer about your upcoming service or leave.
  2. Ensure your employer has the necessary documentation regarding your absence.
  3. Confirm with your employer that they are handling the filing for the compensation.
