What you get
If a doctor prescribes a medication that is included on the official list, your insurance will cover the cost of those essential drugs.
What it costs you
While the insurance covers the bulk of the cost, you are responsible for a standard 10% co-payment (known locally as a Selbstbehalt) on the price of the drug.
The catch to know
Not every medication is covered. Some newer medications or those used for "lifestyle" purposes are not included on the official list, meaning you must pay the full price yourself.
