What it costs you
While there is no direct fee to apply, you must give your employer notice at least seven weeks before you intend to start your leave.
The catch to know
It is important to distinguish between parental leave and financial support. Parental leave refers to your right to take time off work, but it is not the same as the separate financial allowance known as Elterngeld.
