German Pension Insurance Account: Who Qualifies and What You Get
Learn how to access your pension contribution history and see your projected monthly payouts through your official digital account.
The German Pension Insurance Account allows you to digitally track your social security contributions and see how much you are expected to receive when you retire.
Who it's for
This is for anyone who is employed and pays mandatory social security contributions.
What you get
You gain access to a personal overview of your entire pension contribution history. You can also view a projection of what your monthly pension payout might look like in the future.
What it costs you
The service is free. To use it, you will need to provide an ID card that is enabled with an eID function or complete a verification process via the post.
The catch to know
Even though the service is digital, you cannot always set it up entirely online. Activating your digital account often requires you to wait for a physical letter containing a PIN to be sent to your home address.
How to apply
- Visit the official service portal.
- Use your eID-enabled ID card or prepare for post-based verification.
- Follow the prompts to activate your account.
- Check your physical mail for a PIN letter if required.
