Extraordinary Subsidy for Unemployment: Who Qualifies and What You Get

Learn if you can receive monthly financial support if you have used up all other unemployment benefits and have family responsibilities in Spain.

This scheme provides temporary financial support for people who have run out of standard unemployment benefits but still have family responsibilities to meet.

Who it's for

This support is specifically designed for individuals who find themselves in a difficult financial position after their standard unemployment benefits have been completely exhausted. To be eligible, you must meet two primary criteria: you must have already used up all other available unemployment subsidies, and you must have family responsibilities that require your attention. This ensures that those with dependents receive an extra layer of protection when their initial support period ends.

What you get

If your application is successful, you will receive a monthly payment of 480€ to help cover essential costs. This financial assistance is not permanent; it is provided for a maximum duration of 6 months. This period of support is intended to provide a bridge while you continue your search for a new role in the labor market.

What it costs you

While there is no direct monetary fee to apply, there are specific requirements you must maintain to keep receiving the funds. You must prove that you are actively searching for work during the period you are receiving the subsidy. Additionally, this benefit is restricted to those who have not previously received this specific type of support.

The catch to know

The most important thing to understand is that this is a one-time-only benefit in your lifetime. Because it is a unique form of assistance, you cannot apply for it multiple times. Once the 6-month period has concluded or the funds have been used, you will not be eligible to request this specific extraordinary subsidy again.

How to apply

  1. Confirm that you have officially exhausted all other standard unemployment subsidies.
  2. Verify that you meet the specific criteria regarding family responsibilities.
  3. Gather any necessary documentation that proves your current employment status and family situation.
  4. Submit your request through the appropriate official channels to have your eligibility reviewed.
