SAT Tax Portal: Who Qualifies and What You Get

Learn how to use the official platform for managing your electronic invoices and filing your monthly tax returns.

The SAT Tax Portal is the official digital platform used by taxpayers to manage their legal tax obligations and official business documentation.

Who it's for

This portal is designed for all taxpayers operating within the country. This includes individuals who are managing their personal finances and businesses that require official documentation for their commercial activities.

What you get

The platform provides the necessary tools to handle essential tax tasks digitally. You can use it to issue electronic invoices, known locally as CFDI, which serve as official proof of your transactions. Additionally, the portal allows you to file your monthly tax returns (declaración mensual) to stay compliant with your tax obligations.

What it costs you

While there is no direct fee to access the website, using the services requires you to have specific digital credentials prepared. To log in and perform these tasks, you must possess your CIEC password and your e.firma. Without these digital identifiers, you will not be able to access the full range of services offered by the platform.

The catch to know

The most important thing to remember when using the system is the precision required for electronic invoices (CFDI 4.0). Every piece of data entered must exactly match your registered tax ID information. If there is even a small discrepancy between the information you enter and the data held by the tax authority, the system will reject the invoice.

How to apply

  1. Gather your required digital credentials, specifically your CIEC password and your e.firma.
  2. Visit the official government website to access the portal.
  3. Log in using your credentials to access the specific services you need, such as issuing invoices or filing returns.
